Event information:
Nagoya Castle has even more happening with the opening of Kinshachi Yokocho at the end of March. On June 8, the restoration plan for Hommaru Palace, which has gone on for 10 years is finally coming to an end with its opening to the public.
Nagoya Castle's Hommaru Palace was built in 1615 under the order of Ieyasu Tokugawa as the residence of the ruler of the former Owari province and as the province's government office. Due to the air raids of 1945, a large part of the building was lost in flames, but its precious sliding door murals painted 400 years ago were spared, and have been reborn thanks to modern artists.
The illustrious Jorakuden hall and Yudono Shoin bathing room which were built to accommodate shoguns of the Tokugawa shogunate will be open to the public.
