Event information:
Art Aquarium is an exhibition of aquatic art with thousands of goldfish. The event will be returning to Nagoya for the first time in four years.
The theme of the Matsuzakaya Art Museum event is "the grace of goldfish in Edo". During the Edo period (1603–1868), goldfish took root as a part of common culture in the Nihombashi area, and the custom of keeping cool while admiring goldfish in summer has been reborn today.
This is the first appearance in the Tokai region of the approximate three-meter piece titled "O-oku", an illustration of o-oku, or the inner chambers resided in by the females of Edo Castle and the symbol of Edo, where the cultural love for goldfish blossomed; as well as the "Kimonorium" piece with 3D projection mapping and goldfish creating the pattern of a kyo-yuzen kimono in the tank—two popular pieces.
Enjoy this powered-up, Japanese-style Art Aquarium.
