Event information:
The new exhibition facility for gorillas and chimpanzees, which live in groups, will be opening on 9/6 in the African Forest Area in the African Zone with the lush forest of Higashiyama as its background.
The new facility offers both high and low land features allowing observation of the animals from different vantage points. The indoor exhibition area boasts a space which is the most expansive of its type in Japan. In addition, the outdoor exercise space has a gorilla tower which is the tallest in Japan, where you can see how gorillas live up in the trees.
This new facility lets visitors experience Africa, the home of gorillas and chimpanzees. Come on out, and meet the popular western lowland gorilla Shabani as well as chimpanzees!
