Event information:
Moriyama-ku in Nagoya has a group of kofun, or tumuli, which is one of the biggest in the Tokai area, and is a rarity in all of Japan. Kofuns are graves for great figures built throughout Japan from the 3rd to 7th centuries.
The Shidami Kofungun (Shidami Tumulus Group) comprises of seven national historic landmarks such as Owaribe Jinja Shrine Kofun atop Nagoya's highest mountain, Mt. Togoku; and Togokusan Shirotori Kofun, the only confirmed kofun with a completely preserved horizontal stone burial chamber in Nagoya.

The Shidami Kofungun Experience Museum (or "SHIDAMU"), a hands-on facility letting you have your fill of fun with the Shidami Kofungun, opens April 1, 2019.

In commemoration of its complete opening, an opening event will be held on March 30 and 31. Enjoy the feeling of going back in time to the Kofun period with kofun singer Marikofun's performance, guided kofun tours, and ancient experiences.
