The exterior design features “Brother Earth”, a 35-meter-diameter planetarium, the largest in theworld, and also, be sure to check out our four large-scale exhibitions featuring an aurora filmshown in a -30°C room and a 9 meter tall manmade tornado! Theseattractions are highly entertaining and allow museum visitors toexperience the power of nature. Additionally, the building itself acts asan exhibit through the use of solar power, green walls, visible
earthquake-resistant structures and elevator mechanisms.

This museum is housed in a modern building designed by Kisho Kurokawa, and stands in the middle of Shirakawa Park. The museum’s collection of approximately 6,000 works includes those by Modigliani and others of the School of Paris period, as well as Mexican Renaissance works, modern art from Japan and abroad, and works by local artists. The park grounds are decorated with sculptures by famous artists, allowing visitors to encounter art as they stroll through the park.
