Continued: Norman Rockwell Exhibition
Norman Rockwell (1894–1978), an illustrator who was active in America. This exhibition introduces ceramic figurines known as Seto novelties, which reproduced Rockwell’s illustrations in three-dimensional form in Seto and were exported to the United States from the 1970s onward. Transforming illustrations from two dimensions into three-dimensional objects—shaping and supplementing the unseen parts so they could be viewed from every angle—was a craft technique cultivated in Seto. Please enjoy Rockwell’s quintessentially American world in three dimensions.
