Nagoya Station is just one of the gateways to Nagoya City.Nagoya Station, known locally as “Mei-eki”, is a vital hub for Japan’s JR Bullet Train and standard lines, subway lines, Kintetsu and Meitetsu rail services, making it an ideal access point for visiting the area. Surrounding the station complex are numerous large commercial facilities, including departments stores JR Nagoya Takashimaya, JR Gate Tower, and KITTE Nagoya, while the bustling underground shopping area below the station is a fascinating rabbits warren of variety. A little further south, is the Global Gate development, set to cater to the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, Japan’s new super high-speed mag-lev train. Within walking distance of the station are sightseeing and industrial heritage sites such as the world-wide acclaimed tableware manufacturer Noritake’s popular Noritake Garden and craft display center, and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, located in the original and well preserved Toyota Motors’ factory.
