The Nagoya subway includes six lines: Higashiyama, Meijo, Meiko, Tsurumai, Sakuradori, and Kamiida. The Meijo line was turned into a loop in October 2004, becoming the country’s first subway line to do so. As a loop, the Meijo line connects to all other subway lines at Sakae, Kanayama and elsewhere, making it a convenient way to get around the city. The main tourist attractions in the city are within walking distance of the subway.
Subway fares range from 210 yen for one zone to 340 yen for five zones.
Special, convenient tickets are also available, including a 1-Day Ticket for a day of unlimited rides on city buses and the subway (870 yen), Nagoya Subway 24-Hour Ticket for unlimited rides on the subway for 24 hours (760 yen), and the Weekend Eco Ticket (Donichi Eco Kippu Ticket) (620 yen), which allows unlimited rides on city buses and the subway on weekends, public holidays, and the eighth of each month (Environmental Conservation Day).

Railroad (Meitetsu, JR, Kintetsu)
Nagoya is the main station along the JR Tokaido Main Line and JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line.
Private railways include Nagoya Railway (Meitetsu), which has a broad network between Aichi Prefecture and the lower part of Gifu Prefecture. The Kintetsu Railway also connects Nagoya with Osaka and other major cities, as well as Ise-Shima.

There are three railways in Nagoya: JR, Nagoya Railway (Meitetsu) with access to Aichi and Gifu, and Kintetsu Railway with access to Mie and the Kansai region.
JR trains within the city run on the Tokaido Main Line and Chuo Main Line. Connections between JR and the subway can be made at Nagoya and Kanayama stations for the Tokaido Line, and at Nagoya, Kanayama, Tsurumai, Chikusa, and Ozone stations for the Chuo Line.
Transfers to and from Meitetsu can be made at Nagoya, Kanayama, Sakae, and Ozone stations. The Tsurumai Line is jointly operated with Meitetsu from Akaike and Kami-Otai stations to offer convenient access up to Toyota and Inuyama.
Kintetsu, which runs from Mie prefecture, Nara, and Osaka connects to the subway at Hatta and Nagoya stations.

City Buses
City buses are route buses that travel around all of Nagoya City. Non-step buses that are easy for everyone to use, including senior citizens or those with disabilites, are also steadily being introduced. City bus routes cover a wide area in the city, providing convenient access to areas trains do not reach.

The main bus terminals for city buses are at Nagoya Station and Sakae (Oasis 21 terminal and Funsuiminami Bus Terminal). Bus fare is 210 yen across the board. Major subway stations also have bus terminals, and bus routes extend into every part of the city.
Additionally, the Meitetsu Bus Center at the south end of Nagoya Station is the terminus for Meitetsu buses and highway buses, and this can be an incredibly convenient way to travel depending on one’s destination.
For those wanting to tour around Nagoya, the Me~guru Nagoya Sightseeing Route Bus is also an incredibly convenient way to get around.
