Aichi-Nagoya International Animation Film Festival 2026
An international animation film festival will be held in Nagoya!
Aichi Prefecture has continued to host a wide variety of cultural projects, including Expo 2005 Aichi, Japan (“Love the Earth Expo”), which attracted more than 22 million visitors. The Aichi-Nagoya International Animation Film Festival (ANIAFF, nickname: Anyaff) was launched in 2025 with the aim of creating a place for creativity where creators from around the world can gather, talk, and inspire one another, as a global international film festival of one of the world’s largest scales, fusing the industrial and cultural power of Nagoya, one of the core cities of Japan’s three major metropolitan areas. This year as well, over six days, we will welcome many guests from around the world and entertain everyone with a wide range of sections and programs, including the International Feature Competition, Director Focus, all-night screenings, event screenings, special screenings, guest talk shows, lectures, and a project market that connects creators.

This year’s all-night section spotlights director Kenji Kamiyama! Appearing for screenings and a talk event!!
The films to be screened are *The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim*, whose stunning visuals achieved a remarkable fusion of hand-drawn animation and 3D CGI, as well as a selection of early signature works from the *Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C.* series. Director Kenji Kamiyama is also confirmed to attend the screenings! At the talk event, titled “The World of Kenji Kamiyama: Anime, the Future, and Technology,” we will hear extensively about what he aims for in his creative work, his day-to-day job, and his thoughts on “the future depicted in anime” and “the future of anime.” In addition, as a special guest, Miho Sakai, who wrote the screenplay for Kenji Kamiyama’s latest work as chief director, *Star Wars: Visions / The Ninth Jedi*, will be invited. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear plenty of valuable stories about behind-the-scenes production and upcoming works!
