Aichi Factory × Next-Generation Fashion Designers WEEK
Aichi is home to materials and craftsmanship nurtured in the region, including textiles and ceramics. In this event, three next-generation fashion designers encounter Chita cotton, Tokoname ware, Seto ware, and Bishu textiles, transforming them into new works and experiences through their own unique sensibilities. Through an exhibition of works, product sales, a Tokoname ware button workshop, and a mini muffler-making activity using selvedge, we present new possibilities for Aichi’s craftsmanship. Please come and enjoy the pleasure of seeing, making, and wearing at the venue.
Chita Cotton × Tokoname Ware × Umemiya Ao

Focusing on the calm warmth of Chita cotton and Tokoname ware, we created a coat that combines these two materials. Please enjoy the character that emerges within this single piece, where the texture of Chita cotton resonates with the Tokoname ware buttons.

Choose one favorite from 18 types of Tokoname ware buttons created for the exhibited works: 6 shapes in 3 colors—vermilion, gray, and black. You can replace a button on your own clothing, or add one as a decorative accent to a cuff or collar, and enjoy creating your own unique combination.

Seto ware × Horikawa Kazusa

By combining Seto ware, rooted in the land of Aichi, with Echizen washi, which Mr. Horikawa has used in his work until now, we will create wearable art pieces. While engaging with materials handed down in different regions, we will reflect on things that change form over time and are passed on to the next generation.

Bishu Textiles × Nanaha Yamada

Nanaha Yamada creates works in which she spins wool herself, knits it, unravels it, and brings it back to life again. She values conveying where materials come from and how they circulate through the experience of working with one’s hands.

[Workshop: Knit a Mini Muffler with Bishu “Selvedge”]
Using “selvedge” produced in the process of weaving suit and coat fabrics at a Bishu woolen textile mill, you will create a mini muffler.
Enjoy the substantial wool-based texture and rich colors. Even beginners are welcome to join.
