Van Gogh’s Drawbridge and the Impressionist Painters
From the Collection of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum

Seventy carefully selected paintings from the approximately 70,000-work collection of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum & Fondation Corboud in Cologne, Germany, are coming to Japan.

From Manet and Corot, who turned their eyes to everyday life and nature, to the Impressionists such as Monet and Renoir; from Signac and Cézanne, who pursued Impressionist expression in a more theoretical direction, to the distinctive voices of Van Gogh and Gauguin, and on to the richly colored works of Matisse and Bonnard, this exhibition traces the main current of modern art through works by 42 artists.

Visitors will be able to experience both the innovations in the history of modern painting and the connections that transcend generations.
