Autumn Arimatsu Tour — Enjoy autumn in Arimatsu to the fullest with great-value tickets and hands-on experience programs —
The City of Nagoya and Nagoya Railroad Co., Ltd. will launch the “Autumn Arimatsu Tour” campaign to promote visits to Arimatsu, a Japan Heritage site with a wide range of attractions, including townscapes that retain the atmosphere of the Edo period and traditional Arimatsu-Narumi shibori.
As part of this campaign, the “Arimatsu Stroll Ticket” will be offered, which includes a round-trip Meitetsu train ticket to Arimatsu Station, an “Arimatsu Coupon” that can be used at participating shops and facilities in the area, and an “Arimatsu Reward Pass” that provides various benefits for enjoying a walk around town.
In addition, during the campaign period, hands-on programs will be held to allow visitors to experience more deeply the local culture and attractions, including Arimatsu shibori.

Historic Townscapes of Arimatsu
- The village was established in 1608 between the post towns of Chiryu and Narumi on the Old Tokaido Road, through encouragement by the ruling clan. The traditional Arimatsu-shibori tie-dyeing of this area is said to have been invented by the first immigrant to the village, Takeda Shokuro, and the village prospered along with the tie-dyeing industry. Arimatsu lies along about 800 gently bending meters of the Tokaido Road. The townscape's relatively relaxed atmosphere has been preserved, with many wide-plot tie-dyeing stores, gates, and fences.
