Special Exhibition “Famous Swordsmiths - From Old Swords to New Swords”
The Nagoya Sword Museum “Nagoya Touken World” will hold a special exhibition “Famous Swordsmiths - From Old Swords to New Swords” in the special exhibition room on the 4th floor of the North Building from 2025 (Reiwa 7) 9/4 (Thu) to 10/26 (Sun). In this exhibition, famous swords by famous swordsmiths are exhibited in one place, from the museum's collection, from old swords such as Yasutsuna and Tomonari to new swords such as Echizen Yasutsugu and Horikawa Kunihiro. At the same time, the important cultural property “Osaka Nagayoshi” will also be exhibited.
The important cultural property “Tantō Mei Bishu Ofune Jubayoshi Yoshimeie (Osaka Nagayoshi),” which is regarded as the favorite sword of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and is said to have been given to Maeda Toshiie, a vassal and long-time friend, is a dagger with a spectacular appearance full of supremacy and a gorgeous turbulent sword pattern. The important cultural property “Tachimei Kokugou,” an important cultural property by visiting Japan, is slender, has a high curvature, and is graceful and beautiful overall. The important work of art “Sword Impression in Bushu Edo Echizen Yasutsugu” is a famous sword by Echizen Yasutsugu, whose iron made from Nanban tetsu has a dark tinge and increased sharpness and beauty.
