Special Exhibition “A Collection of Various Swords”

  • Special Exhibition “A Collection of Various Swords”

The Nagoya Sword Museum “Nagoya Touken World” will hold a special exhibition “Various Swords Collection” from 2026/1/22 (Thu) to 3/15 (Sun).

When you hear the word “Japanese sword,” many people probably think of a sword worn by a samurai on their hips. However, the world of Japanese swords is actually diverse. The names “tachi,” “punch sword,” “wacksaw,” and “dagger” change depending on the length, and “naginata,” and “naginata,” which have a blade attached to the tip of a long handle, and “swords” with double edges are also included in the Japanese sword family.

In this exhibition, you can see the history of swords spanning approximately 1,000 years, from the Heian period to the Heisei period.
Those who “don't know much about swords” are also welcome. Please experience how shapes and uses change with each era through real objects.
