RED MAGIC ★ - MYSTERIOUS COLOR
It's astonishingly vivid, and the more appealing it is. It's a dangerous scent that makes even the devil feel excited. There are many colors in this world, but the point is red. “Red,” which is expressed in a variety of ways, such as bengara (bengara), red, red, red, red, red, red (red), etc.), has been close to our Japanese sensitivities as the “color of life” since ancient times. In the Edo period, when color culture was refined, red was not limited to the color of worship such as shrines and festivals, but it was also the color of attire used in clothing and makeup, the color of prayer to ward off sickness, and the color of surprise that influenced the impression of Ukiyo-e. In this exhibition, we will unravel the red story that lives strongly in Japan, such as burning autumn leaves, red foods that exorcise evil spirits, red colors from Kabuki such as Kumadori and Akahime, trendy colors that add color to Edoko attire, and even red paint that symbolizes Meiji Ukiyo-e, along with Hiroshige's works.
