Tomibe Shrine Chigo Parade
[Held on 3/29 (Sun)]
What is the Chigo procession
This is an event where children (children), who are regarded as messengers of Shinto and Buddha, wear colorful costumes and parade in line to serve the gods during celebrations at shrines and temples. It is a happy traditional event that is also said, “If you serve as a child 3 times in your life, you will be happy.”
Among the shrine buildings in Nagoya City, restoration work on the main shrine of Tomibe Shrine, which is the only national important cultural property, was carried out for the first time in 30 years, and it will be completed on the last day of February. To celebrate this, the Chigo Parade will be held on 3/29 (Sun), so please join us as a “once in a lifetime experience.”
The day before, 3/28 (Sat), a “festival” will be held to celebrate the completion of the main shrine.
“Votive Gagaku Performance”... starts at 13:00 [to be performed in the rain]
