Special exhibition “Mikazuki Kanemitsu and Bizen's Famous Swords”
The Nagoya Sword Museum “Nagoya Touken World” will hold a special exhibition “Mikazuki Kanemitsu and the Famous Swords of Bizen” from 2026/3/21 (Sat) to 5/31 (Sun).
In this exhibition, we will be exhibiting the famous sword Mikazuki Kanemitsu (Tachimei Bishu Osafune Kanemitsu, 5/6), which has been handed down from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the present day. It is a sword made by Kanemitsu, a swordsmith of the Bizen Osafune school who was active during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and was introduced to the Uesugi family as a sword associated with the Sengoku daimyo Uesugi Kenshin, and traveled to America for a long time after the war. To commemorate the fact that it is now in the Nagoya Sword Museum's collection, it will be shown along with works by master craftsmen from Bizen in the museum's collection.
