DESIGNS MAMORU NAGANO DESIGN EXHIBITION

  • DESIGNS: Mamoru Nagano Design Exhibition

With the major piece The Five Star Stories as well as mecha and character design work for TV animes, designer Mamoru Nagano creates imaginative worlds like no other. DESIGNS MAMORU NAGANO DESIGN EXHIBITION shines a spotlight on his artistic perspectives.

Mamoru Nagano began his career in 1983, and ever since, has continued to push the forefront of artistry with his creative and innovative designs. He was part of the TV anime series Heavy Metal L-Gaim, which ran from 1984 to 1985, where he was in charge of all the mecha design—including that of the robots themselves—as well as all of the characters, bringing the piece to the attention of anime enthusiasts far and wide. The frame design of the series' articulated robots and wide array of characters' fashions would come to have an influential hand in all animes to come. In 1986, his The Five Star Stories manga started its appearance in monthly magazine Newtype, continuing the legacy of Nagano's design while evolving into new styles, and still continues to pull in readers today.

DESIGNS MAMORU NAGANO DESIGN EXHIBITION showcases Nagano's pieces before his commercial debut as well as original pictures and illustrations, character sheets, rough sketches, and other hand-selected materials from Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Brain Powerd, Schell Bullet, The Five Star Stories, and Gothicmade.

Original merchandise is also planned to be available for purchase. This special exhibition is your guide into the world of Nagano designs.

Note:
• Exhibition held at a smaller scale than that of the Tokorozawa Venue.
