Maruya Honten’s First Restaurant — Savor the Finest Hitsumabushi, Crafted with Their Secret Sauce and Carefully Selected Eel!
A 5-minute walk from Ueda Station on the Tsurumai Subway Line, Maruya Honten Tenpaku Main Restaurant opened in 2001 as the very first Maruya Honten location.
The restaurant selects only high‑quality eel raised in excellent environments and prepares it with a secret sauce based on tamari soy sauce made using the traditional methods of Taketoyo. This creates a truly blissful flavor experience. Enjoy the craftsmanship that goes into grilling each eel—crispy on the outside, tender and fluffy on the inside, with excess fat carefully rendered away.
Private dining rooms are available for special family celebrations, meals with relatives or important guests, and corporate gatherings.
In addition to hitsumabushi and grilled eel bowls, the restaurant also offers a wide selection of seasonal mini kaiseki courses and other Japanese dishes.
