Yattokame Festival DOORS
The festival is held to discover and spread Nagoya’s allure to the world, which has a long history and rich culture.
Much of Japan’s performing arts emerged from the bustling streets from which the performers formed a cultural community. The modern day streets still maintain that culture, and this is where this project was born. The performances in this project re-ignite the traditions!
“Tsuji Kyogen”*1, “Tea ceremony party”, Street Kabuki, Noh play*2 and a wide variety of Nagoya's traditional entertainment will take place in many areas around Nagoya. The play performances and popular entertainments are at Osu Engeijo theater, Oasis 21 and more. In addition, historical walking tours provide valuable experiences in Japanese culture. Some of the events have free admission!
*1 Kyogen: It remains Japans’ oldest remaining form of comedy performance.
*2 Noh: A major form of classical Japanese musical drama that has been performed since the 14th century.
