Tamesaburo Memorial Museum 6th Kato Saku Assistant Master Memorial Exhibition: Tradition and Innovation
Keishi Kato was born in Seto Akatsu as the eldest son of Godai Sakusuke, a writer's assistant family that has continued since the Edo period, and studied sculpture at Aichi Prefectural University of Art Graduate School. After graduation, he worked as a potter under his father, and in 2023 he was certified as an Aichi prefecture intangible cultural property holder using the Kiseto Oribe techniques, and became famous as the sixth generation Kato Sakusuke. Combining traditional fundamentals with modern design power, they create diverse works such as vessels, objects, and ceramic walls. In particular, Kiseto is attractive for its neat shape and unique texture of deep-fried tofu skin. This exhibition will introduce the world of Rikudai Sakusuke, where tradition and innovation resonate.
